British actor Aaron Taylor-Johnson has reportedly been offered the role of James Bond after months of speculation as to who will take over from Daniel Craig.

Insiders have said the Kick-Ass movie star is expected to accept the role as 007 – stepping into the shoes of Craig after 15 years.

According to The Sun, a source said: “Bond is Aaron’s job, should he wish to accept it. The formal offer is on the table and they are waiting to hear back.

“As far as Eon is concerned, Aaron is going to sign his contract in the coming days and they can start preparing for the big announcement.”

For months, fans of James Bond had been theorising as to who would step into the role and names such as Leo Woodall, Idris Elba, Barry Keoghan, Cillian Murphey, Paul Mescal and Henry Cavill were in the mix.

However, not all Bond fans were pleased with the choice.

Taking to their social media accounts, one fan fumed: “There are so many better options for James Bond than Aaron Taylor Johnson.

“Henry Cavill and Richard Madden would crush the role easily. John Boyega could be amazing if given the chance. What’s Aaron Taylor Johnson’s best role? Kickass? Quicksilver? That’s awful man.”

“HENRY CAVILL WAS RIGHT HERE,” another exclaimed as a third noted: “Um, Henry Cavill, Idris Elba, Henry Golding, Dan Stevens, and Richard Armitage were right there!!”

One user explained: “I like him as an actor. Just don’t see him as Bond. Henry Cavill is right there damn!”

“Not making Bond movies with Henry Cavill was such wasted potential. Sighhhhh,” as sixth quipped.

However, not all fans of Bond were left unhappy with the choice either, as one praised: “People crying for Henry Cavill and Idris Elba.

“The former has limited range. The latter is ancient. They have cooked so hard with this casting.”
