Rod Stewart rushed to hospital as he cancels performance over ‘unforeseen medical procedure’
Rod Stewart has been taken to hospital for an unexpected minor medical procedure, resulting in the last-minute cancellation of his planned performance in Cincinnati on Sunday evening.
The 81-year-old rock legend had been due to take the stage at Riverbend Music Center on August 9 but was forced to pull out at short notice after requiring urgent medical attention.
The venue broke the news to fans on social media just hours before the gig was set to begin, confirming that the show would be rescheduled rather than cancelled outright.
According to the announcement, Mr Stewart is anticipated to recover swiftly and has expressed his eagerness to return to Cincinnati for a future performance.
In its official statement, Riverbend Music Center said: “Due to an unforeseen but minor medical procedure that required prompt attention, Rod Stewart’s performance tonight in Cincinnati has been postponed.
“Rescheduling is currently underway, with additional information to follow on Tuesday.
“All previously purchased tickets will be honored for the rescheduled date. Rod is expected to make a quick recovery and looks forward to returning to Cincinnati.”
Ticketholders have been reassured that their existing purchases will remain valid for whatever replacement date is ultimately confirmed, meaning fans will not need to seek refunds or buy fresh tickets.

One fan wrote on Instagram: “Sadly, Rod, like the rest of us, is not forever young. I hope that he can recover and rebound to hit the tour again.”
Another offered words of encouragement, posting: “Hope Rod feels better soon. Take care of yourself first. Your true fans will be there for you always.”
A third simply wrote: “Oh no!! Prayers for Rod.”

His daughter Ruby, 39, recently gave birth to her second son, Levi Rhodes Kalick, making the rock star a grandfather for the sixth time.
Ruby shared the happy news on Instagram alongside her fiancé Jake Kalick, writing: “We welcomed our little (big) Levi Rhodes Kalick at 6:58pm on 8/4/26 at 9lbs 20inches….
“His name Levi means My Heart and his arrival has grown our hearts to 10 times the size.”
