Portugal icon finally weds long-term partner Georgina Rodriguez after more than a decade
Cristiano Ronaldo and his long-term partner Georgina Rodríguez have finally tied the knot after nearly a decade together.
The 41-year-old football star wed the model, 32, in a civil ceremony in Cascais, a fashionable seaside town located 20 miles west of Lisbon.
All five of Ronaldo’s children were present at the wedding.
A statement issued to People described the occasion as “a private and intimate moment”.
The Al-Nassr forward marked the event by posting a photograph showing the newlyweds’ hands together, displaying their wedding rings.
Crowds had previously gathered on Ronaldo’s home island of Madeira, where the couple had been expected to marry over the weekend.
The pair first met in 2017 while Rodriguez was working as a sales assistant at a Gucci shop and Ronaldo was playing for Real Madrid.
Recalling their meeting, the social media personality and entrepreneur said: “I was finally able to leave the shop to go home three hours later than I should have, and as I was getting ready to leave Cristiano came in with his eldest son and some friends.
“Let’s just say it was butterflies in my stomach.”

Their relationship became public in March 2017 following an appearance together at Fifa’s The Best awards.
Rodriguez announced their engagement on Instagram last year, captioning a photo of her ring: “Yes, I do. In this and in all my lives.”
Her oval-cut diamond ring, believed to weigh between 25 and 30 carats and set in a platinum trilogy design, has been valued by experts at roughly £3.7million.
Ronaldo has five children from different relationships: 16-year-old Cristiano Jr from a previous partner, nine-year-old twins Eva Maria and Mateo born through surrogacy, and eight-year-old Alana and four-year-old Bella with Rodriguez.

Before his current relationship, the footballer dated Russian supermodel Irina Shayk between 2010 and 2015.
He also had short-lived romances with Paris Hilton, Portuguese actress Rita Pereira, and English actress and model Gemma Atkinson.
The newlyweds currently live in Saudi Arabia, where Ronaldo is captain at Al-Nassr – and earns a cool £165million per year.
He is widely regarded as one of the greatest footballers of all time.
He first represented Portugal at international level in 2003 before a career which took him from Sporting CP, to Manchester United, Real Madrid, Juventus, back to United and then to Saudi Arabia.
In his more-than-20-year-long career, he has netted over 900 official goals and claimed 23 major trophies.
Earlier this summer, Portugal were knocked out of the World Cup by eventual champions Spain 1-0.
After the match, Ronaldo confirmed his international tournament career was over, saying: “I am sad to leave like this, but I have given everything, always given my best. It was my last World Cup.”
