Eric Shango has opened up about what he considers the “hardest” part of his acting career, admitting the psychological adjustment after filming is something “not many actors” speak about.
The Trigger Point star, who plays counter-terrorism officer Danny Markham in the hit ITV thriller, explained that returning to ordinary life after spending months immersed in a production can prove surprisingly difficult.
Speaking exclusively to GB News ahead of Trigger Point’s fourth series, Mr Shango was asked about the biggest challenges he encounters during filming.
The star pointed to what happens once he leaves the filming “bubble”.

“I think the biggest challenge I face in filming is coming out of the bubble that you’re in and going back into day-to-day life,” he told GB News.
“I think psychologically, it’s really difficult, and this is something that I don’t think many actors speak about.”
Mr Shango explained the highly structured environment actors experience during a production can make the transition particularly jarring.
“I think how well we are looked after, how we’re treated, our daily routine, where our headspace is at, I think coming out of that and going back into day-to-day life, that routine is very challenging,” he said.

ITVHe suggested the adjustment can be particularly difficult for performers who do not have the luxury of moving immediately from one acting job to another.
The 34-year-old joked that life on set can include having something as simple as a cup of tea provided almost instantly, making returning to everyday responsibilities something actors have to consciously adjust to.
“Snapping out of that, it’s not easy, and keeping your feet on the ground,” he admitted.
“I think that’s probably the hardest part outside of the long hours and the waking up really early.”

ITVRemaining grounded is something Mr Shango places particular importance on as his career continues to develop.
The actor credited his Christian faith, family and friends outside the entertainment industry with helping him maintain perspective.
“I think my faith is incredibly important, just to every aspect of my life,” he explained.
Mr Shango said he prides himself on remaining humble, “meek” and “teachable”, pointing to both his faith and the upbringing he received from his family.
He added that remembering where he came from and spending time with friends who are “not in this world” helps remind him of who he is when he returns from a production.
The comments come as Mr Shango prepares to return to screens as Danny Markham in the highly anticipated fourth series of Trigger Point.
The star has played the officer alongside Vicky McClure’s explosives expert Lana Washington since the ITV thriller launched in 2022.
The upcoming six-part series will see the bomb disposal team confronting a group of professional mercenaries as they attempt to prevent what has been billed as the biggest terror attack the country has seen.

Teasing the increasingly dangerous circumstances facing the team, Mr Shango told GB News the level of the threat this time around is “exponentially bigger”.
He explained that the situation will force Danny to question his priorities as concerns grow over the dangers surrounding his work and its implications for his family.
