Stacey Solomon and Joe Swash announce major life change as fans declare ‘end of an era!’

Stacey Solomon and Joe Swash have announced they are waving goodbye to their beloved Essex home, Pickle Cottage, having sold the property for £1.3 million.

The television favourites shared the life update with fans on Wednesday through an emotional Instagram video, confirming they would be departing the home “imminently.”

“We are leaving and moving out of Pickle Cottage imminently, which I never thought I’d say,” Ms Solomon declared.

The pair, who first moved into the property in 2021 and gave it its now-famous nickname, are relocating to a larger home that Ms Solomon, 36, and Mr Swash, 44, describe as requiring significant work.

Mr Swash indicated the new property would represent a major renovation undertaking for his wife, widely regarded as a DIY enthusiast.

The decision to leave was far from straightforward, with Ms Solomon acknowledging the deep emotional ties the family had built there.

“Pickle Cottage is our dream house. As soon as we moved here we fell in love with it, and I still love it so, so much. It’s a really special place to us,” she said.

Both of the couple’s daughters were born at the property, and it served as the venue for their 2022 wedding.

Ms Solomon explained that the sale had been kept quiet deliberately, noting they had needed time to prepare their children and inform neighbours and friends before going public with the news.

“Even the thought of selling Pickle Cottage felt like it would be impossible if everyone knew we were selling Pickle Cottage,” she added.

The move was driven by the couple’s long-held ambition to acquire more land, enabling them to take in rescue animals and expand their vegetable-growing efforts.

Ms Solomon spoke enthusiastically about the prospect of creating a large vegetable patch and offering space to animals in need, including bringing horses and ponies to the new property.

The bigger home will also better suit their sizeable blended family of six children.

Together they share Rex, seven, Rose, four, and Belle, three, whilst Ms Solomon is also mum to Zachary, 18, and Leighton, 14, from previous relationships, and Mr Swash has an 18-year-old son, Harry.

“It wasn’t an easy decision. We built our lives together at Pickle Cottage, but now we have found somewhere where we can see our family growing and really flourishing, and this is the place,” Ms Solomon said.

The new property has been nicknamed “Pickle Project” as the family prepares to put their stamp on it.

The announcement was met with an outpouring of support from followers and fellow celebrities alike.

Presenter Alison Hammond responded with enthusiasm, writing: “Pickle farm here we come,” whilst Ms Solomon’s sister Jemma expressed her excitement about future sleepovers at the new place.

Fans described the move as the “end of an era” but wished the family well on their fresh adventure.

Ms Solomon and Mr Swash star together in the BBC fly-on-the-wall series Stacey And Joe, which has been filmed at Pickle Cottage.
