The Spice Girls send fans into meltdown with cryptic post hinting at reunion: ‘It’s happening!’

The Spice Girls have thrown their fanbase into a state of collective excitement by dropping a mysterious teaser video on their social media channels this Wednesday afternoon.

The clip, shared across Instagram and X, contained no explanation of what is to come, only a date and time: 10 September 2026, 2pm BST.

Whatever the group has planned, it will be revealed tomorrow, and the anticipation is already reaching fever pitch.

The post marks the most significant activity from the band’s official accounts in years, arriving after months of reported behind-the-scenes discussions about how to celebrate a landmark anniversary.

Should the announcement involve a live reunion, it would represent the first time Mel B, Mel C, Emma Bunton and Geri Halliwell-Horner have performed together publicly since their 2019 Spice World tour.

The teaser was shot on the steps of London’s St Pancras Renaissance Hotel – the very location where the group filmed their iconic 1996 Wannabe music video.

The unmistakable opening bars of that debut single can be heard playing over the footage.

Eagle-eyed viewers will have noticed the clip features a newspaper advert placed in The Stage, the same trade publication that carried the original 1994 casting call which brought the five members together.

The ad reads: “R U a Spice Girls fan with the ability to sing and dance? R U a superfan, a collector, a music lover?”

It concludes with an intriguing instruction: “No sheet music required. But you will need a vinyl or CD player.”

The reference to physical media formats has immediately fuelled speculation about a possible album reissue.

Fans have wasted no time sharing their reactions online. “WHAT IS HAPPENING!!!” one user demanded on X, while another pleaded: “Don’t play with my feelings please.”

Others bypassed any caution entirely, with one declaring: “ITS HAPPENING THE SPICE GIRLS REUNION TOUR IS HAPPENING.”

A more practical-minded follower simply asked: “So should I start to save money????”

Beyond the immediate hysteria, some devotees believe they have uncovered a hidden clue within the teaser.

A fictional phone number displayed in the ad — “(1009) 061126” — has been interpreted as pointing to 6 November 2026, the date on which the group’s debut album Spice will turn 30.

That timing would align neatly with the anniversary celebrations the band have long hinted at.

The cryptic post caps months of reported negotiations among all five members.

Mel B has been the most vocal advocate for a reunion, stating earlier this year: “It’s our 30th anniversary, I do think we should be doing something.

“Whether that actually happens or not is another story, but we’re all talking about it because, if not anything, just for our fans.”

Emma Bunton said just last month that the group “would like to celebrate in some way” but that nothing had been decided.Geri Halliwell-Horner told The Sunday Times last year: “My hope is we come back together as a collective. It’s more respectful to come as one. We’ll come as one.”Victoria Beckham, who last performed with the group at the 2012 Olympics closing ceremony, has ruled out a world tour but expressed enthusiasm about a Las Vegas Sphere residency, saying: “How good would the Spice Girls be at the Sphere!”
