Strictly star Lacey Turner shares miscarriage experience on set of BBC EastEnders: ‘I just carried on’
Lacey Turner has revealed she experienced a miscarriage while at work on the EastEnders set and simply kept going.
The 38-year-old actress, best known for portraying Stacey Slater in the BBC soap, shared the deeply personal experience in a recent interview.
“I had a miscarriage on the set of EastEnders. I had become so matter-of-fact about the subject because I just carried on,” she told the Prima Magazine.
Reflecting on how she responded at the time, Ms Turner acknowledged it now fills her with sorrow. “Looking back, it’s quite sad to know I reacted in such a way,” she said.

Ms Turner endured two miscarriages in total before becoming a mother.
She now has three children with her husband Matt Kay: seven-year-old daughter Dusty, son Trilby, aged five, and daughter Gipsy, who is 20 months old.

The experience of pregnancy loss had become so familiar to her that she grew desensitised to it, by her own admission.
It was only with hindsight that she recognised the emotional toll of pushing through without properly processing what had happened.
Having spent the majority of her adult life on a busy television set, the actress acknowledged that learning to prioritise her emotional wellbeing was a gradual process rather than an immediate shift.
Ms Turner’s association with EastEnders stretches back more than two decades.
She joined the cast at just 16, making her debut as Stacey Slater in 2004 and swiftly establishing herself as one of Albert Square’s most prominent characters.
Her initial run concluded dramatically on Christmas Day 2010, when Stacey fled Walford after confessing to the murder of Archie Mitchell.
During her time away from the soap, Ms Turner appeared in several other productions, including the supernatural series Bedlam, BBC military drama Our Girl, and Call The Midwife.
She reprised the role in 2014 and remained a central figure for over a decade. Her second departure came in October 2025, with Stacey leaving for Brazil to be near her brother Sean.

Having stepped away from EastEnders, the actress has thrown herself into an entirely new challenge by signing up for the 2026 series of Strictly Come Dancing.
She was paired with Italian professional Vito Coppola during the launch show on Saturday, September 19.
M s Turner admitted the prospect of competing leaves her feeling exposed.
“I’m quite terrified of the whole thing,” she said, adding: “I’m nervous for people to see more of Lacey. I’m opening myself up to people criticising me, not just my character.”
Despite those nerves, she explained that approaching 40 had spurred her to embrace new experiences.
“I want to go out of my comfort zone and push myself to see what I’m capable of,” she told Prima.
Her children also motivated the decision. “I want to show my children that they can do anything they put their mind to.”
