Liam Gallagher continues social media tirade as he blasts ITV Coronation Street actor over Oasis criticism
Oasis frontman Liam Gallagher has unleashed a volley of abuse at former Coronation Street actor Charlie Lawson after the soap star dismissed the Manchester band as “distinctly average” on X.
The spat erupted on Tuesday when Mr Lawson, 67, responded to a post asking whether Oasis were overhyped or genuinely among the greatest bands ever.
His blunt assessment quickly reached Mr Gallagher, who wasted no time firing back: “Like your f***ing acting skills.”
The 54-year-old singer didn’t leave it there, however. When another user questioned Mr Lawson’s talents, Mr Gallagher piled on with: “Actor in his f***ing dreams.”

He went further still after being told he was “going for everyone today,” responding: “He’s had it coming for a long time, silly old c***.”
Mr Lawson portrayed the iconic Jim McDonald on the Weatherfield cobbles intermittently from 1989 to 2018, starring alongside Beverley Callard, Simon Gregson and Nicholas Cochrane as his on-screen family.
His character endured multiple prison stints, a divorce driven by alcohol-fuelled domestic violence, and was eventually killed off-screen in March 2026.
Beyond the ITV soap, the Northern Irish actor took roles in Doctors, Rosemary & Thyme and The Bill.

He has not acted since 2018, when a minor stroke suffered on stage left him with lasting mobility and hearing difficulties.
Despite the backlash from Mr Gallagher, Mr Lawson refused to retreat, sharing a clip of Talking Heads’ David Byrne and declaring them his “favourite band in the 80s and 90s.”
Mr Gallagher conceded he was running out of steam for online battles, telling one follower he was “wiped out defending Oasis n City,” a reference to Manchester City, who have been found guilty of all the financial breaches brought against them by the Premier League.
Just a day earlier, the singer had torn into television presenter Terry Christian after the Manchester United supporter mocked City over the verdict. Gallagher raged at Christian on X, telling him: “Have a day off you S**TC***.

The row came after an independent panel determined Manchester City were guilty of the majority of 115 charges following proceedings that spanned more than 1,300 days. The club intends to appeal.
Fans who missed out on tickets received little sympathy from the Oasis frontman. After all 42 dates on the Live ’27 tour sold out, representing more than two million tickets, Mr Gallagher posted on X: “That’s all folks.
“We have officially sold out, no more tickets left.” He signed off by telling unsuccessful fans to “sneak in f*** it.”

An estimated 11 million people registered for presale codes ahead of the ballot, which opened on September 17.
Ticket prices ranged from £71.50 to £266.60, prompting complaints from some fans.
Mr Gallagher’s response was characteristically blunt: “STOP MOANING.”
The tour includes 11 nights at Manchester City’s Etihad Stadium, five Scottish dates, and a record-breaking six evenings at Knebworth House – surpassing Robbie Williams’s previous mark of three consecutive nights.
