Match of the Day hosts Mark Chapman and Kelly Cates ‘are dating’ as details on new romance emerges

The pair appeared on Celebrity Gogglebox back in July, sharing the same sofa.

Chapman reportedly split with his ex-girlfriend Clere Collier in April after three years together, with a source telling the Sun that Chapman insisted he did not cheat and there was no crossover between relationships.

The source said: “Mark split with Clere out of the blue, without much explanation.

“They had been making plans for the future and their relationship had been going strong.

“They stayed in touch after the split, but Clere soon realised that Mark and Kelly were close, and she accused Mark of dating Kelly.

“Mark admitted the relationship, but insisted there was no overlap between the two women and that he hadn’t cheated on her.

“He told her that he had been a single man when he started spending time with Kelly.

“Of course, it left a bad taste in Clere’s mouth, and she didn’t believe him.”

Chapman was married to his wife, Sara, for 19 years before she died in 2020 at the age of 44 after a battle with cancer.

The couple had three children together.

He is one of the higher earners at the BBC, being paid between £335,000 and £340,000 per year.

Before becoming co-host of Match of the Day, he was heavily involved with Match of the Day 2 on Sundays before being given the main gig.

Cates is the daughter of Liverpool and Scotland legend Kenny Dalglish.

She split from her ex-husband Tom in 2021 after having two children together.

Cates is recognised as a highly respected sports broadcaster, having won Presenter of the Year at the SJA British Sports Journalism Awards in 2025.
