Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola has reacted after his side’s 1-1 draw with Liverpool on Saturday.

The defending champions got off to the dream start in the 27th minute, with Erling Haaland expertly finishing from close range.

However, Liverpool refused to accept the result and earned a draw following a powerful strike from Trent Alexander-Arnold.

There was little to choose between the two teams at the Etihad Stadium, leaving the Premier League title race intriguingly poised as a result.

Yet while City dropped points again, Guardiola insisted he was ‘so proud’ of his side for the way they performed.

“That was an excellent performance,” said the Spaniard, whose side remain top of the Premier League table for the time being.

“I am really proud that after eight years we are still playing that way.

“We were really good in all departments and needed to be against an incredible team.

“Maybe we missed the last pass a little bit but they defended really well.
