Taylor Swift faces backlash from woke fans after inviting ICE contractor to Travis Kelce wedding
Taylor Swift is facing criticism from fans after it emerged that Steven J Demetriou, the executive chair of Amentum Services, attended her wedding to NFL star Travis Kelce earlier this week.
Amentum currently operates Camp East Montana, an Immigration and Customs Enforcement detention facility in El Paso, Texas.
The facility has been in the news of late after facing allegations of poor conditions and detainee deaths.
The 36-year-old pop star married Mr Kelce, also 36, at Madison Square Garden in New York on Friday, with approximately 1,000 guests in attendance.

Mr Demetriou attended alongside his wife and son, Ohio Republican Representative Steven J Demetriou Jr., though he does have a personal connection to the groom through his adoptive son, basketball player Reggie King, who is a close childhood friend of Mr Kelce.
Much of the backlash unfolded on Reddit, where commenters voiced their disappointment and anger.
One user, u/Captain_Cupcake03, branded the wedding “absolutely grotesque and out of touch.”

User u/hellawhitegirl offered a blunt assessment: “You are the company you keep.” Others questioned whether the singer’s political allegiances had shifted, with u/Round_Patience3029 asking: “Taylor is a closet republican now?”
Describing the situation as “sickening,” u/breyness argued: “So you have a space with republicans and don’t use it to speak out on their ways but to invite them to your wedding? Worst part, she’s untouchable.”
Elsewhere, the star-studded ceremony drew some of Hollywood’s biggest names to the iconic Manhattan venue. Hugh Grant, Bradley Cooper, Graham Norton and Cara Delevingne were among the celebrities spotted at the nuptials.

Other notable attendees included Selena Gomez, Ed Sheeran, Dakota Johnson, Jessica Alba, Jason Sudeikis, Seth Meyers, Ethan Hawke, Brad Paisley and Millie Bobby Brown. Machine Gun Kelly and Gigi Hadid were also present.
Adam Sandler took on officiating duties for the couple. Swift’s brother Austin served as her “Man of Honour,” while the groom’s brother Jason Kelce stood as Best Man.
Giant screens outside the arena displayed the message “JUST T&T MARRIED!” following the ceremony, which began at 5:30pm local time.
While some Swifties were unimpressed with Mr Demetriou’s attendance, his son offered a rather different perspective, telling reporters the ceremony was “epic, great and life-changing.”
