John Barrowman blasted for ‘entitled’ plane rant as actor complains about missing pyjamas on business class flight
John Barrowman has sparked uproar online after filming himself complaining about the absence of complimentary pyjamas during a business-class journey with American Airlines.
The 59-year-old actor, best recognised for his portrayal of Captain Jack Harkness in Doctor Who and Torchwood, shared the footage on Twitter before swiftly removing it once negative reactions flooded in.
The clip, recorded from his seat on a flight travelling from Los Angeles to London, showed Mr Barrowman airing his frustrations about what he described as substandard treatment by cabin crew.
He was flying alongside his father and husband, and noted that all three had purchased expensive flagship tickets expecting a premium experience.

PAIn the now-deleted video, Mr Barrowman addressed the airline as he moaned: “We get on thinking we’d get pyjamas with the flagship service.
“Then you apparently only give them to the first two rows in business class flagship service. What’s that all about?”
As well as the missing sleepwear, he complained that his meal order had been incorrect and that not all flagship passengers were receiving identical service.
“So far you’re not batting very high,” he remarked.
The horror for John Barrowman failing to get pyjamas in business class. I hope he somehow managed to arrive safely.

In a caption accompanying the post, Mr Barrowman went further, writing: “I find that shady and bad customer service. You’re supposed to be pushing this flagship and at the moment it’s not hitting the ball out of the park.”
He signed off the video with a pointed “Can you explain? Thank you.”
Rather than rallying behind the star, the majority of responses were scathing. “The entitlement is off the scale. No wonder he deleted the tweet,” one X user critiqued.
A second added: “How detached from reality do you need to be to moan about pyjamas?”

“Everything that’s wrong with this world,” a third added. “People experiencing unimaginable horror, losing their homes, their families, many with only the clothes they wear. And this clown is outraged that he didn’t get pyjamas on a plane.”
Meanwhile, others opted for a sarcastic approach. A fourth X user typed: “I feel so utterly sorry for John Barrowman. This is absolutely tragic. How could this happen to someone in 2026? It’s dreadful. Not being given pyjamas in business class is totally unacceptable. How on Earth was he expected to have a little sleep halfway across the Atlantic without being given pyjamas? This is so cruel. How will he ever recover from this shocking incident? Pray for John.”
And a fifth followed suit: “Heart goes out to John Barrowman this morning, what a horrible set of circumstances to endure.”
However, not all of the feedback was negative, with some sympathising with the actor’s gripes. “Well he does have a point, if everyone on the flight has paid for Flagship service why don’t they all get the same service?” one fan weighed in.
John Barrowman used to be a judge on Dancing on Ice

PAAnd a second X user argued: “I find it strange people are just attacking his celebrity and not seeing the actual point. If you pay for a service, you should receive the full service. It’s not about being oversensitive to a set PJs. It’s the principle of getting what you pay for.”
Mr Barrowman, born in Glasgow in 1967, relocated to the United States as a child and went on to build a varied career spanning theatre, television and music.
His portrayal of Captain Jack Harkness in the BBC’s revived Doctor Who and its spin-off Torchwood made him a household name, while he also served as a judge on Dancing on Ice during the 2020 and 2021 series.
His career suffered a significant blow in 2021 when allegations emerged that he had exposed himself on the set of Torchwood. Last year, he revealed to the Daily Mail that the fallout had driven him to contemplate suicide.
Since then, Mr Barrowman has worked to rebuild his profile, appearing on Celebrity SAS: Who Dares Wins and starring in the theatre production Laid Bare.
