John Bishop forced to cancel US tour dates as painful health blow has left him unable to fly: ‘Gutted’
Comedian John Bishop has had to scrap all six of his planned North American tour dates next month after medical professionals told him he can’t take long-haul flights.
The 59-year-old sustained a broken ankle in a motorbike accident and must wear a medical air boot for six weeks, which prevents him from flying.
The shows, forming part of his Here’s John Bishop tour, were scheduled to take place across the US and Canada between October 15 and 25.
It included stops in New York, Boston, Vancouver, Ottawa, Montreal and Toronto.

Mr Bishop took to X yesterday to share a video breaking the news, telling fans he hopes the dates can be rescheduled.
In the video, he displayed his medical boot and explained the situation with characteristic humour.
“One of the consequences that I found out about breaking your ankle is that you have to wear this boot for six weeks,” he said.
“And when you’re wearing this boot, you can’t fly long-haul flights, and because of that, I’ve got to cancel the tours I was gonna do in Canada and America in October.”
He apologised to ticketholders and expressed hope that replacement dates would be announced in due course.
“So I apologise, but under medical advice, I’m not to be a k***head and crash my motorbike again,” he joked.
In the accompanying caption, Mr Bishop wrote that he was “absolutely gutted,” adding: “I was so looking forward to coming back over and seeing you all.”
He confirmed that ticket purchasers would be contacted by their point of sale.

The injury occurred earlier this month when Mr Bishop was out on a motorbike ride with astronaut Tim Peake.
Recounting the incident, the comedian quipped: “I learnt a lesson today – astronauts are better motorcyclists than comedians.”
The accident had already forced Mr Bishop to withdraw from another commitment before the tour cancellation.
He had been due to take part in Sir Chris Hoy’s Tour de 4 charity cycling event for Prostate Cancer UK, riding alongside the 50-year-old Olympic track cyclist who has stage four prostate cancer.

Mr Bishop said at the time that he was “gutted” to miss the event but urged supporters to continue backing the cause.
Mr Hoy responded warmly in the comments, writing: “Heal fast mate! So sorry we won’t get to see you, but there’s always next year!”
Mr Bishop’s passion for motorcycling is relatively recent. He took up the hobby in 2023 after inheriting a scooter from his late father-in-law Mike, who left it to him when he passed away.
Fans were quick to send their well wishes beneath the announcement, with one writing: “Hope you have a speedy recovery soon John.”
Another offered a wry observation: “John, you know when people say ‘Break a leg’ they don’t really mean it.”
Mr Peake also left a supportive message following the initial accident, telling Mr Bishop: “Gutted for you mate, you were a rockstar but so sorry you’re missing out on this. ‘Til the next time!!”
