Bob Harris has delivered encouraging news about his health, posting a video on Instagram in which he described his cancer as “getting back under control”.
The BBC Radio 2 legend, affectionately known as Whispering Bob, told followers he had consulted with his oncologist earlier that day.
“I was speaking this morning with my oncologist, the amazing Costi and we are going to continue with my cancer treatment,” he said.
“We’re getting back under control, I was a little bit worried a short time ago, but everything is getting back under control now.”

He continued: “I can see the pathway of my life ahead of me opening up again.”
Mr Harris was first diagnosed with prostate cancer back in 2007 and had been managing the condition through ongoing treatment until recent difficulties arose.
The 80-year-old broadcaster, who hosted The Country Show on BBC Radio 2 from April 1999, formally confirmed his departure from the programme on June 4 this year, stepping away to focus on his health and recuperation.
At the time, he expressed how much he missed being on air but indicated that his treatment was progressing positively.

He had acknowledged that taking a break from broadcasting gave him the chance to enjoy the time he believed he had left, which he called “a most precious commodity”.
However, the upbeat message came after a worrying period for Mr Harris and his supporters.
Last month, he posted selfies from his hospital bed alongside a candid admission that the disease had been gaining ground.
“During this time my cancer has been getting more of a hold,” he wrote, while reassuring fans he still felt well physically.

He revealed he had embarked on an intensive course of intravenous radiotherapy, expressing confidence that the treatment would help keep the illness in check.
Despite the setback, Mr Harris was optimistic, telling followers he expected to learn the results of the treatment relatively quickly.
The presenter also hinted that he had a second piece of news up his sleeve, promising to share the announcement on Tuesday at 10 am.
He did not offer any further details about what the reveal might involve.
