Amanda Seyfried splits from husband of nine years as pair release joint statement
Amanda Seyfried and Thomas Sadoski have confirmed that their nine-year marriage is over.
The actors, aged 40 and 50 respectively, revealed the news in a joint statement provided to People magazine on Tuesday.
“We have been separated for a while, and it’s proven to be the right move for us and our family unit. We’ve got each other forever—and it’s GOOD,” the pair said.
The couple, who tied the knot in 2017, are parents to two children together. They had largely shielded their family from public scrutiny throughout their relationship.

Despite the separation, Ms Seyfried appeared to maintain a warm rapport with Mr Sadoski, sharing a lighthearted photograph of him with a gecko on her Instagram Stories on September 15, captioning him a “reptile dad.”
Their romance began behind the scenes of the off-Broadway production The Way We Get By in 2015, where they first crossed paths.
Later that same year, the pair were cast opposite one another as love interests in the film The Last Word, and by early 2016 their on-screen chemistry had blossomed into a genuine relationship.
An engagement followed in September 2016, and the couple secretly wed just months later in March 2017.

Mr Sadoski described the intimate ceremony at the time, telling People: “We eloped. We just took off into the country with an officiant and, just the two of us, and we did our thing.
“It was beautiful. It was everything that it should be. It was just the two of us talking to each other.”
Mere days after their elopement, the couple became parents for the first time with the arrival of daughter Nina, now nine.
Their family grew again in September 2020 when son Thomas Jr. was born. He turns six this month.

The pair opted for a quieter existence away from Hollywood, settling on a farm in upstate New York.
Mr Seyfried would occasionally offer fans glimpses of their rural life, including their animals and daily routines.
When it came to raising their children, Ms Seyfried characterised her dynamic with Sadoski as “yin and yang.”
Speaking to People in 2023, she recalled a particular moment of teamwork: “Yesterday, I looked at my husband Tom and said ‘God, that was good parenting. You stopped [the behaviour] with your tone,’ then I came in…it was a gorgeous moment.”

Ms Seyfried’s career has flourished in recent years, most notably with her 2022 Emmy triumph for Outstanding Lead Actress for her portrayal in The Dropout.
She thanked Sadoski during her acceptance speech. More recently, she has taken on roles in The Testament of Ann Lee, The Housemaid and the series Long Bright River, and is currently promoting the prison thriller The Life and Deaths of Wilson Shedd at the Toronto Film Festival.
As recently as January this year, Seyfried told Vogue that her husband “sacrifices a lot for me,” acknowledging the demands of her packed schedule. Sadoski, known for The Newsroom and John Wick, had also spoken proudly of their joint humanitarian work with War Child USA.
Separately, reports emerged last month that Ms Seyfried has listed her Hollywood Hills property for £2.6 million, though she continues to reside on the east coast.
