Glastonbury boss sets record straight on Oasis rumours after band’s tour announcement sparks speculation
Glastonbury co-organiser Emily Eavis has dashed hopes that Oasis will top the bill at next year’s festival, after renewed speculation about a surprise set.
Ms Eavis confirmed the news to an Instagram user on Friday morning, putting an end to weeks of fevered speculation among festival-goers who had become convinced the Gallagher brothers were destined for the Pyramid Stage in 2027.
When one follower pleaded, “Please say you’ve got Oasis,” Eavis responded: “Sorry Jimmy, not this time!”
Despite the band’s hugely successful reunion tour generating enormous demand, it appears that Worthy Farm will not feature on their itinerary next summer, regardless of what the bookmakers’ odds might have suggested.
Oasis have announced a major new tour for 2027 | GETTYThe rumours had been stoked by eagle-eyed fans who spotted a conspicuous gap in the band’s newly unveiled Live ’27 Tour schedule.
Oasis are booked to perform at Manchester City’s Etihad Stadium on both the Friday and Saturday that coincide with the Glastonbury weekend, but have no gig listed for the Sunday, which is traditionally when the festival’s headline act closes proceedings on the Pyramid Stage.
That seemingly tailor-made window in their calendar led many to conclude the brothers were planning a surprise appearance at Worthy Farm.
The Live ’27 Tour, announced last week, comprises 38 dates across 11 venues spanning Britain, Europe and the United States, beginning at Celtic Park in Glasgow on May 21.

Ms Eavis’s confirmation aligns with what frontman Liam Gallagher had already made crystal clear on X last month.
After a fan account highlighted that bookmakers had installed Oasis as 4/1 favourites to headline the festival, Liam didn’t mince his words about the possibility.
“It’s not happening,” he wrote. “So all you croc-wearing flag-waving p****s can calm the f*** down.”
He continued his tirade in subsequent posts. In one reply, he recounted a dream in which “the croc brigade stormed the stage and started whipping me to death with their flags.”

GETTYHe also asked a fan whether the festival encouraged “CROCS n FLAGWAVING,” adding: “if so I’m afraid it’s NO from ME.” (sic)
Oasis have a complicated relationship with Glastonbury, having headlined twice before in 1995 and 2004.
However, Noel Gallagher has previously acknowledged that the band never managed to deliver a definitive performance there, while his brother described their 2004 set as “horrible” after battling problems with his in-ear monitors.
Both brothers have since returned as solo performers. Noel last appeared alongside the High Flying Birds in 2022.
Beyond the now-quashed Glastonbury speculation, the Live ’27 Tour includes an 11-night residency at the Etihad Stadium, dates across Munich, Barcelona, Amsterdam, Paris and Rome, followed by shows in Boston and Las Vegas, before culminating with concerts at Slane Castle and Knebworth.
