BBC Strictly’s new hosts fall flat moments into launch as fans slam ‘unnecessary’ change: ‘Three’s a crowd!’
Strictly fans wasted no time in sharing their thoughts on Claudia Winkleman and Tess Daly’s replacements following Saturday’s launch show.
For the very first time, Josh Widdicombe, Johannes Radebe, and Emma Willis took over the reins, marking the first time a trio has fronted the dance competition.
The opening episode of this year’s run kicked off with a breathless dance routine involving all of the pros, judges and celebrity contestants before the cameras headed into the ballroom for the new hosts to introduce the series.
However, as soon as Ms Willis, Mr Radebe, and Mr Widdicombe got proceedings underway, a number of BBC viewers at home took to social media with a very similar complaint.

“Three presenters is just wrong….no need! #Strictly,” one X user hit out, while a second echoed: “I know it’s only the first few minutes, but I just cannot gel to there being three hosts #strictly.”
Meanwhile, a third criticised: “I’m gonna really try to not be negative but I feel like I’m watching raffle winners try their hand at presenting the show. It feels wrong. #Strictly.”

“Three’s a Crowd #strictly,” another commented, before a fifth typed: “The 3 presenters feel unnecessary so far. It’s too much. I hope it’s not like this every week #Strictly.”
And a sixth weighed in: “Very early days but I’m not sure three presenters are needed. Emma and Josh are fantastic so far but Johannes is really wooden and just doesn’t feel necessary. I adore him but he should’ve stayed as a pro. #Strictly.”
