Andy Burnham has fired back at actor Danny Dyer by saying that he does not know who the cockney actor is.
Remarks by Mr Dyer, who played Mick Carter on BBC soap EastEnders for a decade, went viral on the internet this week after he said that he did not who is the Prime Minister.
However speaking to reporters en route to the annual meeting of the UN General Assembly, the Prime Minister hit back with his own response.
He quipped: “I’m not sure I know who he is. Is he the father-in-law of a West Ham player?”

Mr Dyer was attending a demonstration for public ownership of the water industry in Kent, earlier this week when he was asked to talk through his “message for the prime minister”.
Mr Dyer replied: “I don’t know who the Prime Minister is, mate. Do you?”
When reminded that it is Mr Burnham since July 20, he said: “Yeah, but who is he? I don’t understand.”
He added: “Did anyone vote for him?. Because I didn’t vote for him. So I think we’ve had successive prime ministers that are c***s. End of.”
Mr Dyer is no stranger to a political rant – his 2018 Brexit rant, in which he branded former Tory PM David Cameron a ‘t**t ‘, was named TV moment of the year.
