Marvel star reveals Olympic coach was brought in to teach him how to run for new TV role: ‘Not flattering at all!’
Nick Blood has revealed he underwent an unusual form of training ahead of filming Hit Point, admitting producers enlisted an Olympic coach to improve his running technique for the new crime drama.
The 43-year-old actor, best known for portraying Lance Hunter in Marvel’s Agents of SHIELD said he was surprised to find himself being coached on something as basic as sprinting, joking that seeing himself run in slow motion was “not very flattering”.
Mr Blood made the revelation during a live Q&A attended by GB News for the upcoming six-part series, where he stars opposite Saffron Hocking as detective Leo.
Recalling the preparation that went into the action-packed drama, the star explained: “I did actually one time…they got an Olympic trainer for the American teams to teach us to run.”

He admitted the experience was eye-opening after seeing the footage played back.
“I was like, ‘What is this all about?’
“And then I realised, because when you do it in slow motion, it’s not very flattering at all,” he said.
“Running, your face is wobbling all over the place. It’s basically just teaching us to keep it really tight and really symmetrical.”

Mr Blood, who also appeared in Slow Horses and Euphoria, said viewers will see plenty of action sequences throughout the series, although he joked that one particular scene proved more exhausting than expected.
“I’ll do a bit of running in this,” he said.
The actor added: “Running up and down those stairs with those coffees was… Jesus Christ.
“Just knackering that was. Got my steps in though.”

UKTVMs Hocking, 31, was quick to laugh off suggestions she enjoyed filming the show’s action scenes, insisting running was far from her favourite part of the job.
“Honestly, listen, I’m a princess. I like to sit down, okay?” she joked.
“My feet, my legs, everything… the running was crazy.”
Despite her protests, the actress said she received glowing feedback from one of the show’s producers.
“He was like, ‘Some of your running is the best running I’ve ever seen.’ And I was like, ‘Oh my God, stop.'”
Director Johnny Katz backed up the compliment, telling Ms Hocking: “It is true. You’re a really good runner.”
The light-hearted exchange came as the cast discussed the physical demands of Hit Point, a fast-paced thriller created by Misfits writer Howard Overman.
The six-part series follows detectives Leo and Bella as they become embroiled in a dangerous criminal investigation while navigating an increasingly complicated personal relationship.

Mr Overman previously revealed he deliberately set out to break many of the conventions of traditional British police dramas, explaining he wanted Hit Point to feel more like an American thriller than a standard procedural.
“I have a massive problem with a lot of procedural shows,” the Bafta-winning Misfits creator told GB News and other outlets. “I just find them very formulaic.”
To achieve that, Mr Overman imposed a series of strict rules before production began.
“We did have hard and fast rules,” he explained. “You never see their boss.”
He continued: “A lot of shows are obsessed with higher-ups and the management structure. I thought, just the audience, don’t give a s*** about that, really.
“I don’t want to see any points where they’re looking at whiteboards, sitting in offices discussing who’s going to do what, or scenes where they’re being hauled over the coals.”
