Gary “Angry” Anderson, the Australian rock icon who fronted Rose Tattoo for five decades, has died at the age of 79.
Born Gary Stephen Anderson, the singer became a household name far beyond the hard rock world thanks to his ballad Suddenly, which soundtracked one of television’s most memorable moments, the 1987 wedding scene on Neighbours featuring Kylie Minogue and Jason Donovan’s characters.
Mr Anderson had led Rose Tattoo since 1976, establishing himself as one of Australia’s most recognisable rock performers.
His death was confirmed by his family and bandmates, who hailed him as a “much-loved” artist.
