Gogglebox star Steve Sheehan shares worrying hospital bed snaps after health woe away from Channel 4 show

Gogglebox favourite Steve Sheehan has revealed he was recently forced to spend several days on a hospital ward.

On their joint Instagram account, Mr Sheehan’s wife and co-star Sue shared an update announcing that her other half was now at home, as she shared snaps of the ordeal.

Photographs posted by Ms Sheehan showed her husband lying in a hospital bed, along with a close-up image of a prominent black eye he had developed during his stay.

However, Ms Sheehan was quick to put fans’ minds at ease, confirming her husband had fully recovered in the accompanying caption.

She penned: “What a difference a week makes. Steve was a little poorly and had to spend a few days in hospital.

“But he is home now. Out for lunch and enjoying his first beer in a while. Just call me Nurse Ratched.”

The Gogglebox star signed off with the hashtags: “#nhsheroes #tablets #nursesrock #recoveryjourney #hospitalfood.”

The third photograph of the carousel showed Mr Sheehan looking considerably healthier.

The couple, who became part of the Channel 4 programme’s line-up in 2019, received an outpouring of goodwill from viewers and fellow telly watchers following the post.

Izzi Warner, who regularly appears on the show alongside sister Ellie, typed: “Glad you’re feeling better Steve!”

Meanwhile, co-stars Jenny Newby and Lee Riley typed: “Happy to hear your feeling a lot better Dave. I am sure nurse ratchet will be of assistance [laughing emojis] love Jenny and Lee x.”

And fellow Channel 4 alum Dave and Shirley Griffiths concurred: “Hope Steve is well soon love to you both Dave and Shirley xx.” (sic)

Meanwhile, a fan commented: “Pleased to see you on the mend Steve, you and Sue are a lovely couple and absolutely hilarious on Gogglebox.”

Another fan urged Mr Sheehan to “stay strong” and promised “better days ahead.”

The Sheehans are no strangers to being open and honest with their fans about their lives away from the show.

Ms Sheehan herself has spoken publicly about her own health difficulties, having discussed her experience of living with Bell’s Palsy during an episode of the programme.

In a characteristically witty exchange, she told her husband on camera: “I mean I’ve actually learned to do a couple of things since this Bell’s Palsy.”

She explained that speaking from the side of her mouth and taking much longer to chew food were among the adjustments she had made.

The Sheehans aren’t the only Gogglebox stars to have found themselves in the news this week.

Former star of the show Amy Tapper left fans gobsmacked earlier this week when she showed off the results of her eight and a half stone weight loss journey.

The 26-year-old, who rose to fame on the Channel 4 programme as a teenager, took to social media to share a montage documenting her journey.

“Allow me to reintroduce myself,” Ms Tapper declared alongside the post as she proudly showed off the results of her transformation.
