Inbetweeners fans ‘work out’ Jay Cartwright’s fate after actor accidentally exposes clue during fan video
James Buckley appears to have inadvertently revealed a storyline detail from the upcoming third Inbetweeners film, thanks to a personalised video recorded on the Cameo platform.
The 39-year-old actor, who portrays the perpetually boastful Jay Cartwright, seems to have been caught on camera in costume during production on the Netflix movie.
Just last week, Mr Buckley had already given fans a glimpse of his new look for the film, a freshly shaved beard and blonde hair, through another Cameo clip.
In a clip posted to TikTok by the user @SindyStargfire, Mr Buckley can be seen seated in a grey room, offering congratulations to a couple who had recently welcomed twins.

Sharp-eyed viewers, however, were far more interested in what the actor was wearing than what he was saying.
Mr Buckley had on a blue polo shirt beneath what appeared to be a high-visibility jacket, prominently featuring a badge that seemingly read “Cartwright Plant”.
Although it might look like a minor wardrobe detail, fans believe it speaks volumes about where Jay Cartwright has ended up in the decade or so since audiences last saw him.
Discussion quickly erupted on Reddit, where users offered their theories about what the costume choice might mean.

“Probably works for his dad. It’s known that his dad is at least a manager (if not owner) of a construction business, as that’s where Jay did his work experience,” one fan wrote.
Another agreed it was the most logical outcome: “I mean, he spends all day jumping JCBs over cement mixers, making a grand a week.”
Not everyone assumed Jay would be stuck in a dead-end role, though.
“I think he’s successful and rich in his job, but scummy, and he’s still a great source of laughter through being pathetic,” suggested a third fan.

CHANNEL 4Others joked it would be fitting if Jay had finally become wealthy enough to back up some of his famously outrageous claims.
Netflix announced earlier this month production was underway, with Mr Buckley, Blake Harrison, Simon Bird, and Joe Thomas, 42, all reprising their beloved roles.
Series creators Damon Beesley and Iain Morris are back at the helm as writers and directors.
One question mark remains over whether Greg Davies will reprise his role as the fearsome Mr Gilbert.
Speaking to Metro earlier this year, the comedian made his feelings abundantly clear.
“If I end up not being in that movie, there are people I won’t name who I will spend the rest of my life taking down, and the awful vengeance I will reap on those people,” he said.

The original Inbetweeners series aired on Channel 4 for three series between 2008 and 2010, following the disastrous exploits of Will, Jay, Simon and Neil at the fictional Rudge Park Comprehensive.
Its success spawned two feature films in 2011 and 2014, with the first securing the biggest opening weekend ever for a British comedy before its sequel went on to achieve box office success of its own.
